The IB Mathematics Analysis & Approaches course covers five core topics. We build a solid foundation in every area, ensuring you are fully prepared for both Paper 1 and Paper 2.
Sequences, series, binomial theorem, logarithms, and proof. HL students also cover complex numbers, proof by induction, and counting principles.
Domain, range, composite and inverse functions, transformations, and graphing. HL extends to polynomial theory, factor and remainder theorems, and rational functions.
Trigonometric identities, circular functions, sine and cosine rules, and 3D geometry. HL adds vectors in 3D, cross product, and intersections of lines and planes.
Descriptive statistics, probability distributions (binomial, normal), regression, and hypothesis testing. HL extends to Poisson distribution, Bayes' theorem, and continuous distributions.
Differentiation, integration, kinematics, and optimisation. HL goes deeper into related rates, volumes of revolution, differential equations, Maclaurin series, and l'Hopital's rule.
We help you choose a strong IA topic, structure your exploration, and present mathematical reasoning clearly. The IA is worth 20% of your final grade. We make sure it counts.
Understanding the exam structure is the first step to exam success. We practise under real exam conditions so there are no surprises on the day.
HL students also sit Paper 3. a 1-hour problem-solving paper with extended investigative questions.
